چکیده
This study evaluated the impact of contrasting tillage and nitrogen management options on growth, yield attributes, maize (Zea mays L.) in a conservation agriculture (CA)-based maize-wheat (Triticum aestivum system. The field experiment was conducted during rainy (kharif) seasons 2020 2021 at research farm ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi. split plot design with three practices [conventional residue (CT), zero (ZT) permanent beds (PB)] as main treatments sub-plots five [Control (without N fertilization), recommended dose @150 kg N/ha, Green Seeker-GS based application applied N, basal through urea super granules-USG + GS 100% slow release fertilizer (SRF) N/ha] replications. Results showed that both had significant seasons. However, time to anthesis physiological maturity were not significantly affected. Yield attributes highest plots, similar numbers grains per cob (486.1 468.6). leaf area index (LAI) 60 DAP observed PB (5.79), followed by ZT(5.68) lowest recorded CT (5.25) plots. grain (2-year mean basis) plots (5516 kg/ha), while lowestwas conventional (4931 kg/ha). Therefore, highlights importance CA for improving growth yield, suggests farmers can achieve better results adoption CA-based use USG option.

Diversification in substrate usage by glutathione synthetases from soya bean (Glycine max), wheat (Triticum aestivum) and maize (Zea mays).
Unlike animals which accumulate glutathione (gamma-glutamyl-L-cysteinyl-glycine) alone as their major thiol antioxidant, several crops synthesize alternative forms of glutathione by varying the carboxy residue. The molecular basis of this variation is not well understood, but the substrate specificity of the respective GSs (glutathione synthetases) has been implicated. To investigate their subs...
متن کاملResponses of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and maize (Zea mays L.) plants to cadmium toxicity in relation to magnesium nutrition
The infl uence of cadmium (Cd) on physiological processes in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and maize (Zea mays L.) plants exposed to either optimal mineral nutrition or the absence of magnesium (Mg) as well as the accumulation of cadmium and magnesium in plant organs were studied using the method of water culture in a greenhouse. Cd treatment reduced shoot fresh mass more strongly in Mg-supplied...
متن کاملAllelopathic Assessment of Genetically Modified and Non Modified Maize (zea Mays L.) on Physiology of Wheat (triticum Aestivum L.)
The aim of this work was to study the allelopathic effect of 3 extracts viz 3%,5% and 10% prepared from leaves of GM (insect resistance) and non GM maize on physiology of succeeding crop wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). The extracts prepared from GM maize significantly decreased chlorophyll a content but significantly increased chlorophyll b content as compared with untreated control. Content of c...
متن کاملAllelopathic Effects of Aqueous Extracts of Sunflower on Wheat (triticum Aestivum L.) and Maize (zea Mays L.)
Sunflower is a potent allelopathic plant which possesses important allelochemicals with known allelopathic activity on other plants. In this study, allelopathic effects of fresh aqueous extracts (FAE) and air dried aqueous extracts (DAE) of root, shoot and leaves of sunflower (Halianthus annuus L.) were investigated on germination and seedling growth of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and maize (Z...

Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...
